Twenty-two women have won $12.75 million in a years-long lawsuit alleging a predatory scheme by GirlsDoPorn, a site that hosts purportedly one-time pornographic videos featuring “amateur” college-age women and teen girls. The women provided evidence that the company lured them into shoots under false pretenses, intimidated and coerced them into performing, and shared the images online without their consent. They sued a total of 13 affiliated businesses and individuals, including owner Michael Pratt, actor Andre Garcia, and videographer Matthew Wolfe.

Michael Pratt, the main culprit of the trafficking scheme, fled the country and is a wanted fugitive. And Pornhub executives who are accused of distributing and profiting from the victims’ trauma have yet to face civil or criminal consequences. GirlsDoPorn’s victims were doxxed, harassed and humiliated, and they felt they had a full-time job they never asked for – trying to get the videos of their trafficking removed from the internet. At the time of the filing of this criminal complaint about one year ago (2019), authorities were still in the process of reaching out to the several hundreds of women affected by this scheme – as well as figuring out the various entities that money from this scheme had been funneled through. However, as this lawsuit continued to fall into place within the court system, it became apparent that the labyrinth of production companies and shell corporations established by Michael Pratt had become a minefield for his opponents’ lawyers. A look into the finances of GirlsDoPorn showed that they had once been owned by a parent company called GT Group Ltd., which was a corporation listed in the Panama Papers as a tax haven for several illicit organizations.

Some women said the men physically blocked the exit to their hotel room during the shoots. Some accused one of the men of raping them before or after the on-camera shoot. Once women arrived in San Diego for their photo shoots, they were plied with drugs and alcohol and pressured to sign documents without reading them. And I think the important job of an activist is to activate people. And I think that’s exactly what happened by just sharing this truth of what I discovered that night that all it took to upload user-generated sex videos to the world’s largest porn site was an email address. This doesn’t mean GirlsDoPorn content has disappeared from the Web, however. GirlsDoPorn video clips remain readily available from other pornographic video sites. The last few months have been a disaster for the people behind the GirlsDoPorn website. Last summer saw the start of trial in a lawsuit 22 women filed against site owner Michael Pratt and two other men.
